Welcome to Wood End Farm, Dunsop Bridge

Our Story
Our family has lived on this beautiful 18th century farm for over 100 years. Situated in Dunsop Bridge at the heart of the Forest of Bowland an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The farm is part of the King’s Whitewell Estate, when you visit the Forest of Bowland area, you’ll understand why the Queen regards it as one of her favourite places to visit having actually welcomed Her Majesty to the farm in 1989
Wood End is a traditional hill farm with beef and sheep, set in the beauty and tranquillity of this unspoilt area in rural Lancashire.
At Wood End we believe in trying to preserve where possible the best of traditional farming practice to conserve the unique and beautiful countryside we live in; to that end a large part of the farm is in the stewardship scheme. This recognises the work we do to conserve traditional hedgerows, species rich meadows and look after our dry stone walls.

Farm Diversification
Here at Wood End Farm we offer unique alpaca experiences, definitely not to be missed. Not only do we have 17 friendly alpacas, available for alpaca walking, wedding attendance, birthday parties and farm education – we also have several other farm animals available for petting.

Meet Our Farmers

Alison
Alpaca Expert / B&B Host
Alison can often be found tending to her growing herd of alpacas (17 at the time of this being written), Humphrey & Hector the kunekune pigs, Polly & Princess the ryland-cross sheep, and Tommy the shetland pony. She hosts regular alpaca walking experiences here at Wood End Farm, as well as arranging alpaca-themed birthday parties, corporate days and more.
Wood End Alpacas attend regular weddings and wedding fairs throughout the year, mostly managed by Alison and 1 other handler.
Should you be contacting us via email, it’ll often be Alison who responds.
Alison also helps manage the B&B on our farm. You can find out more through our other website @ www.visitwoodendfarm.co.uk
Why not book a stay with us sometime!

Janet
Sheep Farmer / Soil Enthusiast
If you’re down at the main farmyard, you’ll likely not see much of Janet, often surveying the farm fields tending to her 750+ sheep. Spread out over 1000 acres of land, that’s a lot of ground to cover!
In addition to helping Alison with the occasional wedding fair, Janet has more recently become a passionate soil manager, in an attempt to transition the farm practices towards more of a ‘pasture for life‘ land management system.
If you have any questions about soils or sheep – talk to Janet!
The plan is to feature more of Janet on the Wood End Alpacas YouTube channel… where we hope to talk more on these super interesting topics!
